Buffalo dot the prairie like a scene from Frederic Remington’s Old West.
Buffalo dot the prairie like a scene from Frederic Remington’s Old West. D ust rising with each step they take. They are some of the most powerful wild animals in North America. As 2,000-pound giants, they tower up to five and six feet tall, walking across ridges and clearings, noses to the ground, biting blades of grass, chatting amongst themselves, bellowing primordial sounds, deep and guttural. Could this be what the first Kansans saw and heard? (Video by Bo Rader/The Wichita Eagle, Kansas.com) (June 12, 2011)
